The najlepši in najtežji mali maraton ( "most beautiful and most difficult half marathon"), or simply NajNaj21, features a very scenic and demanding route indeed.

Held on a loop course through the wooded hills between Slovenia's capital Ljubljana and the Julian Alps, the 21.1km route includes 1,300 metres of ascent.

Starting and finishing at an elevation of 590 metres at the Gostišče Rupar restaurant in the hamlet of Sveti Andrej, which sits on a ridge above the old town of Škofja Loka, participants run over three hills—Sveti Ožbolt (859m), Tošč (1,021m), and Osolnik (858m).

The race is run mostly on trails and gravel roads. It's allowed to use hiking poles. The time limit to complete the course is five hours.
