The Dresdner Nachtlauf (Dresden Night Run) is held on a Friday night in August in Dresden, capital of the state of Sachsen (Saxony) in Germany.
The event takes place on the first day of the Dresdner Stadtfest, a three-day street festival that usually draws an estimated half a million visitors every year.
Starting and finishing in the city centre, both the 6.2km race and the 11.5km race take the runners along both banks of the Elbe river, mainly on cycleways.
