La Cimoliana is a running and hiking event without timekeeping or results lists, held in the protected Parco Naturale delle Dolomiti Friulane in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region in northern Italy.

Three scenic routes are on offer — 6km, 14km, and 30km long.

Starting and finishing in the picturesque village of Cimolais (at an elevation of 650m), participants run out and back the Val Cimoliana, a steep alpine valley that is surrounded by imposing mountains which are up to 2700m high.

The highest point on the course (and the turning point for the 30km runners) is at an elevation of 1200m at the ‘Rifugio Pordenone’ mountain hut.

The route is a mix of asphalt and gravel roads which are closed to traffic for the time of the event (from 9am until 4pm).
